Trying to install latest RFXcom Eg plugin. When double clicking on Eg plugin, nothing happens! What could be wrong?
Windows 10
Eventghost Program Version: 0.4.1.r1722

I'm not sure, but i think EG 0.4.1.r1722 must be running while double clicking on the .egplugin.

Tried you latest update with 3 different computers with same issue. Nothing happens.
Could the reason be because I have installed Eventghost directly to C: and not in programfiles?

I have no control how the plugin is installed, it is handle by the core part of EG. A manual work-around is to open the .egplugin file with winrar and extract the content directly to the plugin folder.

Maybe :) In a windows command line please enter the following and check if the path is correct:

Code: Select all

reg query "HKCR\EventGhost Plugin\shell\open\command"

Installed it this way with no problems. Did not know that I could unpack it. Thank you!

Hmm, to bad

Next try (from command line):

Code: Select all

C:\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe RFXtrx_v2.0.2.egplugin
and if that still doesn't work:

Code: Select all

C:\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe -debug RFXtrx_v2.0.2.egplugin

and no one has thought of this yet!??!?!

your file associations are boogered up... if you have more then one running version of EventGhost only one of them is associated to the file... so check your file associations and make sure it is pointed to where it needs to be.

No No No, we need to know if there is in fact an issue. because if there is an issue with EG we really have to fix it..

one person with a problem is one person to many in my opinion...
In all seriousness. have you checked your file associations??

it's under control panel default programs.. second link down. it will bring up a list of file extensions and what program opens them.. make sure it is pointed properly to your EG installation folder...

and if it is pointed to an old copy of EG or something like that let us know...
But the egplugin file should also have a big green arrow for an icon. if it doesn't then it is pointed somewhere it shouldn't be

sometimes this happens. like with the plugins. it can be opened with zip. so when you click on open file with... there is a sneaky little checkbox that i usually forget to uncheck as well.. but it makes the new program you select the default program.

if you right click the egplugin file and click open with you will see EventGhost in there... if there is more then one EventGhost in there then you have more then one version installed... now whether it is actually installed or not is a different story.

I thought of this, that's why i let him checked the regestry. I wanted to see that path realy links to the path where he said he installed EG into.

And now i wanna know what happens, when he starts EG from command line with the egplugin file.

Hej kalinkamaen, i still would like you to try the commands i posted previous and tell me (maybe with the result of the -debug).

my whole thing was not where eg was pointed to.. but if by accident he.she changed the file association to something other then EG..

I am right there with ya now on this. so we know the association is right. and the reg path is correct. then the plugin should be installing...

but... is he.she double clicking the file with EG open or closed. I have noticed if my EG is closed nothing happens as well.

it used to launch the plugin installation. (i think)

it no longer does this. it will only launch the plugin install if EG is open. and it being minimized does not matter
