Hi,

I am getting some error with the Generic HID (trying to use the iMon plugin)

Johnson has suggested that I bring my error to you as mentioned here http://www.eventghost.org/forum/viewtop ... 7&start=30

The summary is:

EG is 0.3.7.r1436
Windows is XP Pro x64 SP2
IMonManager ver 7.85.0222 (ANTEC)
iMon Firmware ver 0x380102
LCD HID OEM

The case is the Antec Remote Black Fusion.
The hardware ID is:
HID\Vid_15c2&Pid_0038&Rev_0001&MI_01
HID_DEVICE_UP:FFCC_U:0001

Note that I has uninstalled iMon Manager to make sure that it does not conflict.

Whenever I add the plugin I get either

'Error opening HID device: Vendor ID 5570 HID-compliant device'
or
'Error reading HID device: Vendor ID 5570 HID-compliant device'

Then I get 'System.DeviceRemoved Vid_15c2&Pid_0038'

Johnson has mentioned that maybe 64 bit is not supported...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

64 bit works fine for me.
If you get System.DeviceRemoved event it sounds like some hardware, connection error.
Have tried another different USB-Ports or maybe a connect the device to a (preferably) powered hub?

The IR reciever is inside the Antec Case, it's not an external one. I can't remember where I plug it onto the mobo but will check that.

It does work if I use IMon Manager and either the remote that came with it RM200 or a MCE remote. But I would like to use eventghost with it so that I can program more complex actions (iMon is very limited) and use my harmony remote with XBMC...

There is no log that can tell me more what the problem is?

Update the HID.py in the eventghost dir with the one from the svn
http://www.eventghost.org/svn/trunk/eg/WinApi/HID.py

This prints out a more detailed error text

I replaced it and I am now getting:

Error HID Device Disconnected: Vendor ID 5570 HID-compliant device

If I use the iMon plugin from Johnson (the original one I was trying to use) I get

Error opening HID Device: Vendor ID 5570 HID-compliant device (the system cannot find the file specified)

No idea then. It still looks like the device gets disconnected after the HID devices are enumerated.

Can you test SimpleHIDWrite.exe from the IOWarrior SDK?

I think you are right... it gets disconnected as soon as it gets listed!

It does show up for 1-2 seconds then disappear. Then the following messages keep coming in a loop fashion:

Arrival of Device VID=15C2 PID=0038
Removal of Device VID=15C2 PID=0038
Arrival of Device VID=15C2 PID=0038
Removal of Device VID=15C2 PID=0038
Arrival of Device VID=15C2 PID=0038
Removal of Device VID=15C2 PID=0038
....

I'm going to open the box and see if I see something...

OK... I opened it and it is connected to a USB port. I changed it to USB_2 but still getting the same behavior.

Life sucks !

Could it be that the driver is only wanting to work with iMon... retarded but would not surprise me.

The nice thing about HID is that it don't need a customized driver. Does it use a special driver instead of the default MS one?

I checked and the driver is from Microsoft version 5.2.3790.1830

The strange thing is that if I look at the device manager, the device actually gets uninstalled by the OS. The plug and play add it back but then keep uninstalling. Which explains the back and forth Add/Remove...

Nothing in the event log is telling me why it removes it. I tried disabling all the other HID devices and no luck...

I even updated the BIOS of my mobo... really trying to get this working with no luck

so it happens in conjunction with HID access. I don't know if there is another way to access HID devices. Maybe some parts not needed (like querying for button and values) causes this. Feel free to experiment with the code but I don't see there is much I can do. Maybe there is a firmware update or you could ask the manufacturer for help.

I've tried different routes but can't seem to figure out the issue.

Thanks a lot for your help but I am giving up on this. Maybe I'll try with a different receiver some day.

It seems as i have the same Problem as cmonpellier.
I'm using the same Hardware and the same Software (EG 0.3.7.r1436).

The OS is Windows 7 64Bit.

It seems as the iMON HID Device is connected and disconnected all the time the Plugin trys to connect to it.
The iMon Manager works fine so far. I uninstalled but that changed nothing. Still the same error.

I could stop to find a solution too, but i reall want to use the front Knob at least :(
