EventGhost plugin as with Tasker App Factory plugin

Post by HenryMast » Sat Jul 08, 2017 7:05 am

Tasker App Factory lets saving Tasker profiles/tasks as stand-alone apps. Is there a plugin that allows Eventghost to save different creations as stand-alone programs?

heh yeah.. it's called copy and paste.

but seriously it is.
well if you want a whole second copy of EG. copy the whole EG installation folder to another location

and this next part is going to be the same either way you will simply select the new location instead

but create a shortcut, browse to the eventghost.exe you want to run. and click on next.. when it is done making the shortcut you are going to right click on it. and click on properties
in the Target box you will see "C:\Program Files (x86)\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" (if you are using EG that is installed in program files)

you are going to want to change the target. be sure to replace YOUR_TREE with the path/name of the configuration tree you wish to open
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe YOUR_TREE.egtree --multiload"

this will allow you to have 2 copies of eventghost open at the same time with 2 different configuration trees which would be exactly the same as what tasker provides.

@m19brandon

that's simple.

Copy and paste baby!

LOL

simply copy your tree and past it onto your production tree. do this inside of EG and not in the file it's self.

Using the multiload switch is pretty useful when doing that kind of copy/pasting between trees. It'll allow you to run as many instances of eg at once as you like. So you can have multiple tree's to copy/paste from/to.

save as .cmd
for x64

Code: Select all

START "Starting Multiple EventGhost Mode" "C:\Program Files (x86)\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -multiload -m
or i believe this will work for x86.

Code: Select all

START "Starting Multiple EventGhost Mode" "C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe" -multiload -m
Speaking of copy/pasting tree stuff. Kgschlosser, can we get a sub-board for sharing eg xml? I know there's a ton of stuff i would like to setup that other people have likely done already. & it's just a good way to learn eg, by looking at other people's tree's/code.

@yokel22 I can set it up for ya but you will have to be the moderator for it. so I would suggest some kind of an outline for how you want the information shared. but also a sticky on how to do it.

if you are willing let me know.

That's fine, I can manage one board, you do enough for us already as it is. I was just thinking something like voxcommando's xml exchange as they both use xml that is copy/pasted directly onto the tree. http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?board=27.0 . Just a sticky with basic outlines for posting and using shared xml. As i think a lot of folks that are new to eg don't even realize you can paste code directly onto the eg tree & not have to open the xml file and paste it in.

On a side note. I don't have a ton of free time this next month or two. But I can probably get a free day to help with the html/css work you were wanting to do on the site. I'll pm you in case you don't catch this post.
