we are going to have to wait a week to get the unicode 100% right. it may be easier this time around if you can do the VM with TeamViewer. this would be ideal since it seems there is something that causes a change. the unicode handling is the single biggest thing I hate about python 2.

I forgot I still had eventghost running with the API key in plac. i see events for the temperature changing and the power turning on and off. so that is a good thing.

You probably did, but no more. I have deleted that key and made another one. I can't take any chances when my renters are there. So we'll see next weekend. Oh, btw, to change the API key I had to delete the macro directory and the plug-in, and then add it all anew. Trying to open the plug-in configuration gave me a red mess in the logger. But we'll get to that next wekeend. Have a nice week!

I will also need a copy of that teaceback. I don't know if you had debugging enabled. If you did the traceback will be saved to %APPDATA%\EventGhost\log.txt

I have created a Windows 7 VM with only EG and your plug-in activated, plus Team Viewer. But where do I enable debugging? I can't find that in the plug-in.

its not in my plugin. it's in EG. start EG from a command line with /debug

Gotcha. Will do. I'll put that in the startup shortcut.

change the name of the startup shortcut and then disable the startup from inside of EG. this is because EG will check the startup shortcut and will delete it and make a new one if it is modified.

Suddenly the script is failing. I have added more network cards to the automation VM, and I think that's when it started. Does this tell you anything:

you can try changing the binding order for the network cards. other then that I am not sure I do not know the internal mechanics of the requests library. that is the library used for web requests.

Can you load a webpage on the VM since you added the network cards? the only thing i can think is it is having problems trying to connect to the server.
