copy and past any traceback information from the log if there is no traceback put NONE

in the Event field you will want to put the event that was triggered just prior to the traceback occurring, if there is personal data put PERSONAL DATA if there was no traceback or no event triggered right before the traceback put NO EVENT

Description: if you have the ability to replicate the issue then put in here a description of what you are doing to create the problem.

Screen Shots: screen shots of the error and any events/macros/acrions that were run before the issue or screen shots of the problem

Files: any files that may be used to isolate where the issue is. something like the log.txt file would go here

if you provide the above information before hand it will greatly speed up the diagnostic process. we will not have to ask for the bits and pieces. And also having a well formatted Bug Report filled out will get answered sooner then the ones that aren't

I'm not using this on the mitsubishi at the moment, I'm using on a JVC EM55FTR. You are correct, the program never gets past the learn phase, but when I transmit a copy/pasted pronto code, I don't get any errors

well just because you don't get an error doesn't mean it it's working properly

I'll try that out when I get home. I had a hard time finding pronto codes for this TV for whatever reason. All I really NEED is a power on/off command so a generic JVC code might do the trick, now that I think about it.

If that does work for you then you can use the XML below. just copy and paste it into your tree. and then copy the one action to autostart. It's just a little convience thing i did up for ya instead of having to do a bunch of copy and paste with pronto codes this will allow you to simply drag and drop the events into place

IT WORKS!!!! If there is such a thing, I'm going to put you up for IT guy of the year!! By the way it was a good idea to use caps lock on the instructions because I got this wrong the first couple of tries.

YAY!!! I am happy... This is the way I usually go about it. only because I know there can be issues with learning IR. it's not an exact science. There is actually an error margin. so your TV will accept the code if it is say 95% correct. it doesn't have to be 100. depending on the way it was programmed. as an example if you have a remote that uses the Sony 12 or 15 bit codes every time you press the button on the remote the code actually gets transmitted 3 times. Just in case the first 2 didn't make it there LOL. as i said not an exact science. That is one of the reasons why I like to input the pronto codes even if they are learned codes they have been tested and known to work.

You missed the part with adding the action huh??? how in the hell could you miss that?!?!?. that is defiantly a P.E.B.K.A.C problem... (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair). I should have only expanded that macro. Oh well.

You do not have to leave that setup that way. it was just something as a convince thing to check which codes work and which ones don't. But that should be just about every button on the remote.

I'm usually in a hurry when I get to work on my PCs so I've gotten into a bad habbit of breezing through things, instead of reading them from start to finish, then trying them. Where did you look up your remote codes from. Its not as hard to find the generic codes like what you were talking about but if you found codes to this specific TV, then I'm curious about where these came from. What might help a lot of other people, is a little program that looks up codes to go along with the MCE plugin so that users don't have to go through the headaches when their PCs don't easily learn codes. I never looked into event ghost enough to realize how simple it is to write something up like what you just did.

Remotecentral.com is usually where I get them from. The nice thing about that site is that if a device has discrete codes. Meaning if you want your TV to change to say HDMI4 while turning the power on. Or of the normal code is to toggle power. This is a way to Power the TV on and use the other code as an off. There are sometimes not listed codes that will bring up things like advanced/hotel menus they usually have the codes for things like that.

What I did for yours was keyed in JVC EM55FTR into Google. I found out it's an Emerson branded JVC but it uses the standard JVC remote codes. To find that but out I read the instructions for a universal remote specifically the table for programming it. And the codes were identical to JVC and also knowing the Japanese Victor Corporation. I knew they haven't released a main stream TV In a grip of years. Since the early 90's ya know. Just after they changed from the wired remote LOL. I knew they probably had maybe 2-3 different IR sets at best for a TV as it turns out they have 1 LOL so on the remote central site I found a model number that could be it.. it was called TVmastercommand. Now I don't know what lead me to think that was it :shock: 8)

Hey, I know about the weird Learn issue...
Actually I already fixed it some weeks ago, but didn't share because I wanted to test it further... And then I forgot about it ^^
Sorry..

I also don't know if it will still work with EG 0.4 now :P

Something was wrong with the close event for the learn window, it wasn't possible to close it at all.

I'll try to upload it in the MCE topic later this day...

@ sem;colin Something that might be worth thinking about is adding a database of pre-configured remote codes similar to what KG just gave me for common brands. I'm guessing that a large portion of your plugin's users just need basic TV controls like volume, power, etc. If you can add generic codes that work with each brand for some of these basic functions, it might make your plugin easier to use.

@jachin99: Good Idea! Even though I never had luck with generic codes for my equipment... But a URL to remote central or something that points into that direction could help people a lot, I'll think about it :)

well what is nice about remotecentral is their website hasn't changed in the past decade. so i don't think they will be changing ti any time soon. to make something up that would pull the codes automatically wouldn't be all that hard to do.

One more idea, maybe add a way for users to request a particular remote code in the plugin. I think between the generic codes, and that most people walk away feeling like the plugin will solve or has solved their particular problem
