My TODO list

Post by kgschlosser » Fri Oct 20, 2017 10:42 pm

I need to start a list of what I need to start, work on, finish up. This list is in no specific order. It is not a list of what order things are going to get finished. Frankly speaking, I will work on whatever it is I am in the mood to work on. It all depends on how good/bad my day went and how much more frustration I am willing to add. This is all dependent on the complexity level of whatever it is.

***EDIT*** as per dequi's request

Website:
Make a new search engine
Pick color scheme/graphics
Finish creating plugin repository
Finish merging forum/mediawiki/website/plugin repository

Notification with 4 LED's:
possibly Intergrate with @booleans TrayTip plugin

Find Plugin:
Have to check with status of new server
Redesign plugin to allow for connection to local server

Sonos Plugin:
Needs initial testing to see if events for manually changing settings on the device occur in EG
Finish the actions

XBox Controllers Plugin:
Redesign plugin to use secondary method of reading the dll for button presses

Spotify Plugin:
Finish the API (this is extremely extensive)
Check to make sure the UPNP port forwarding for a router works properly.
Code the plugin.

SonyAPI Plugin:
Backend API is working properly Need to have the plugin side of it coded up

Samsung TV Plugin:
Add support for the newer generation TV's

Marantz/Denon Plugin:
Backend API is good to go need the plugin side coded up.

Multi Threaded Events:
Start over and make code less complex

LibCEC Plugin:
Sort out a bug in it that I am not able to reproduce locally.

TP-Link Plugin:
Make changes to the plugin to support new API

Raspberry Pi Plugin
I honestly don't remember

If I have forgotten something please fell free to post a comment in here so I can add it to the list.

No it's not. And I haven't forgotten ya. I have a lot of things to finish up. Once we get this website done and EG released I will be focusing on finishing up those projects that people have been waiting on. I have been putting some thought to your plugin as of late. Maybe we can shoot the idea over to @boolean. This is something that i think would compliment the TrayTip plugin. I do not know if @boolean has any time to work on something additional or not. But if he is interested i can pass off the notes I have done up as well as the code I have written up for it.

ok good to know that it's still on track ! :) Don't worry I know how hard you work here and on many aspects, you can't do it all, all by yourself... You're already doing a lot !

Just a suggestion if I may, you could insert a link whenever possible for each project of your list, this way people will know exactly what you're talking about.

Do I recognize a silent cry for help? Had the same a couple of months ago, what helped me was the KANBAN method of limiting the number of projects/tasks in progress (WIP) and prioritizing (I read you are busy with them all in no particular order...hmm :? ). Now you list is very generic, can you break it down in actionable parts? smaller stuff you can delegate? to us?

The blackout display is something I am trying to add to the core of EG.

Nah. I would like to get these things finished up for the people who have asked for them to be done.

Unfortunately there are users that ask/need to have something done up. and the choice is to say no and they leave disgruntled and stop using EG or I have to add another project to the list. More and more people are stepping up to help out. Which is awesome. But what we are lacking are plugin developers willing to take on new projects. or to fix old ones.

Well the thing is the order thing is because of burnout on a specific project. Or if something gives me thought on a specific piece of one of them i will jump back over to it.

looks like a lot of work that list :-)
I guess the only way for me to help with all that add another point: There where still some hiccups with the guids in RC4

The GUID was simply a real world test to see if it was functioning, or not functioning, or partially functioning. It was something we wanted to have some information on to be able to correct the broken bits and discover what else needs to be done. and the work that has to be done is very complex and is not something we are willing to do in the upcoming release. so it has been put on hold.

Allright. I guess that's a wise decision then.
