Ehm, why do we need categories at all?

I don't think it's state of the art anymore...
A search / filterable list based on title and maybe keywords would hit the nail of the time much better I think...

Just my 2ct

I have found myself many a time not looking for a specific plugin but simply browsing. and if they are all put into one grouping then there is no filter at all. so as an example. There is a plugin for my TV and I am already using it. and I do not want to see any plugins for TV's I have no need for them. But I am interested in looking at plugins that control various types of software. or perhaps I am looking to purchase a new remote control and I want to see what plugins are available for remotes It's far easier to simply click a category then have to filter through search results that will almost always retuen things that aren't what I am looking for.

But if the categories are there then why not use them??? if it has the ability. The search is still there foe those of you that do not want to browse through them in that fashion.

EG has about 300 unique plugins. This is a whole lot to simply toss into one container.

As long as there is a search over all plugins that's fair enough.
For me personally categories are not flexible enough, but that's a matter of taste.
I see your point with the browsing.
