Writing plugins in Visual Basic

Post by robertdeniro » Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:30 am

The EventGhost:About wiki page says that plugins can be written in Visual Basic, C, etc, and also makes mention of an ActiveX interface.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how I do this?

I want to get started writing some custom plugins straight away.
Yes I could learn python, and even just fiddle the included plugins to do what I want, but right now I'm more excited about controlling stuff on the PC & my X10 stuff than in learning another language so I just wanna get up & running as quickly as possible.

And I'm not looking at simple stuff like just sending window messages to get a program to play/pause, I wanna do stuff like getting the Windows Alt+Tab function working from the remote so I imagine this would take more than just a passing knowledge of the python API & objects.

So if someone can point me off in the direction of how to make a plugin for Eventghost using VB, I'm be mighty appreciative.

Thanx

You can load dll and call the functions via ctypes.
There are some plugins where the main logic is in the dll and python only calls the functions in the library.
