I'm running into a big problem with my remote.

There are 5 XBMC servers, each running eventghost and the lutron homeworks processors.

I want to be able to load data from any given eventghost in one interface on my iphone.

The problem is that javascript/browsers won't let you load (using XMLHttpRequest function) a page from any server other then the one that the page you are viewing originated on.

It's really pissing me off!

I ended up installing apache and activeperl on the main XBMC/Eventghost server and wrote a quick perl script to act as a proxy to get around the above problem.

I'll have to try that out. Looks to be a lighter weight solution the having perl act as a proxy

damage you rock. That worked perfectly and it greatly accelerated the load time of my remote screens.

The only issue I ran into was variable updates. For example, with lutron lighting controls I push a virtual button on my remote then make a call to the lutron processor for the buttons LED state. I had to put a setTimeout function (200ms) on the call to the LED State update because Apache was returning a 200 (ready) too fast and I was getting out of date LED info.

Sometimes it was taking my remote from 25-40 seconds to load up and now it takes 5 tops.

Got an apache ? for you damage.

Can I set apache to automagically change the extension on a file before serving it.

The thumbnails on XBMC have a .tbn extension. I would like to be able to request 1323232.jpg and have apache find and return 1323232.jpg
