Re: Multiple/Too many instances

It sounds like you're trying to communicate between an elevated EventGhost and an unelevated Python script, or vice versa. If you run EventGhost as Administrator (and there's little reason to do so since r1710), you'll need to run your Python script as Administrator as well; if you run EventGhost un...

Re: Keyboard plugin and Win10 GameDVR

I've gone ahead and reworked the Keyboard plugin's hook logic to more closely match that of Keyboard+. The Win+G issue is definitely resolved; the only question is, have my changes broken anything else? Please download the patch below, test it for a few days, and report back here. If all is well, I'...

syndac wrote:How often would you say it crashes?
If you follow the instructions in the thread and create macros to disable the plugin while EventGhost is focused, maybe once a day if you're unlucky? Otherwise, pretty much every time you open EventGhost.

Re: Keyboard plugin and Win10 GameDVR

My plugin, Keyboard+ , doesn't exhibit this issue (or any of the others Keyboard is notorious for), but it doesn't play well with the crazy old version of wxPython we still bundle and will, thus, crash EventGhost from time to time. Until someone with the requisite know-how steps up and begins upgrad...

Let's Encrypt has entered public beta. Any progress yet on stripping out COM?

Re: Keyboard plugin and Win10 GameDVR

Confirmed, but the Keyboard plugin is, for all intents and purposes, abandoned, so don't expect a fix any time soon. Your best bet will probably be to disable the game bar.

Re: Snarl

I didn't realize events could be received from Snarl via socket. If that is, indeed, possible, then it's definitely the ideal path forward.

As always, I'm happy to test and provide feedback when you have something to show.

Re: Snarl

So, back to the topic of the thread: Snarl. I've been testing uiAccess="true" with my self-signed cert, and it seems that, as far as COM is concerned, this flag still puts the process into a separate privilege space even though we're not running as Administrator. In other words, Snarl.* events don't...

Re: New version 4.0.1.r1710 is out

Plugin System Actions Execute and Command - added option "Run as Administrator" For most users, this means it's no longer necessary to run EventGhost itself as Administrator . The last remaining known issue with running EventGhost unelevated is that keyboard hotkeys don't register when an elevated ...

Re: Keyboard plugin issue

If you choose to contribute, be sure to compile your changes and thoroughly test them first. As someone who's spent considerable time debugging the Keyboard plugin, take it from me -- any change you make, no matter how harmless it appears, will probably end up breaking something else.

Re: Strange Multiple "stuck" keys

This is a long-standing bug in the Keyboard plugin, not triggered by Emulate Keystrokes. My replacement plugin, Keyboard+ , works flawlessly, but the ancient version of wxPython we bundle doesn't play well with it and produces periodic crashes. Currently, there's no perfect solution to this issue. W...

Re: EG at At Startup?

Thanks for the info blackwind, Any other new/interesting features in the new update? I've been coordinating with Pako on this particular change, but the rest of the release is in his hands. Usually, the replies to the most recent release thread make up the bulk of the other changes. also have you g...

Re: EG at At Startup?

For the benefit of future visitors to this thread, Windows won't launch elevated programs at startup if UAC is enabled . This isn't an EventGhost issue. Your options for resolution are: Disable UAC completely with the "EnableLUA" registry hack. Setting the UAC slider to "never notify" isn't enough. ...

Re: Snarl

Perfect. One last tiny suggestion, and then you have my go-ahead for release: payload = "The result to use as payload" In English, this is a very awkward wording that may make it unclear to some users what exactly the option does. Change it to: payload = "Use result as payload" No need to provide te...
