Re: Insteon Plug-ins for ISY-26/99i and SmartLinc (with X10)

I'll keep this in mind for the next time the thing dies. The first time, I had it installed in my wiring closet, plugged directly into the outlet, which is in the ceiling. It stays pretty warm in there, around 85F, so I thought that the heat killed it. The second one was installed behind my HTPC, sa...

Re: Insteon Plug-ins for ISY-26/99i and SmartLinc (with X10)

Wow, I'm bummed to find out that this works with the Hub. When my 2nd SmartLinc died within the 2 year warrantee period, SmartHome sent me a Hub. I contacted them to find out if it could be controlled similarly to the SmartLinc, and they said NO. So, I sent it back and they sent me a used SmartLinc ...

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

@techoguy: That should work. If you start with pretty much any plugin that communicates with something via HTTP requests (maybe the Insteon SmartLinc plugin), it shouldn't be too difficult to make your own plugin.

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

This is great, thanks! I plan on getting a Roku soon and will definitely be using this. I actually want to do something similar for the Chromecast. I want to be able to at least send pause/play/next from an IR remote and have thought about doing something like this. I bought four Chromecast devices...

Re: Yamaha RX-Vxxx (or similar) Ethernet Plugin!

I don't know if anyone cares, but I updated this plugin for my own use a couple of years ago, but I never uploaded it here. I can't remember what all I changed except for one action that I use a lot, which is named "Get Input". It retrieves the currently-selected input from the receiver, and returns...

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

Kasinator,

This plugin and the CEC device have been 100% reliable for me so far. Thank you for the great work!

Re: Devices for Devs ?

Question... I am no coder/programmer and won't be anytime soon (EVER). But... is there a way to develop for HDMI-CEC without having hardware for it? Virtualization of some sort? Just wondering. Question II... What's this? http://www.cec-o-matic.com/ I'm sorry that I didn't notice your questions soo...

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

In order to get the Roku to work as a playback device (logical device 4), I had to change the libCEC plugin again. I set the "-t" argument to "r" and "p" (recording device, and playback device). This makes the CEC device respond with an ACK when the TV polls either logical device (recorder=1, playba...

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

Can you please post your updated libCEC plugin? thanks I could, but all I changed was one line (line # 66). I changed this: self.process = Popen( ["c:\Program Files (x86)\Pulse-Eight\USB-CEC Adapter\cec-client.exe"], stdin=PIPE, stdout=PIPE,startupinfo=info) to this: self.process = Popen( ["c:\Prog...

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

I am having so much fun with this! I am currently working on emulating my Roku 3 with the CEC plugin for EG! I'm planning to keep my HTPC running 24 hours a day, and I will make the HTPC emulate the Roku. When the TV sends a CEC command to the emulated Roku device, EventGhost will "relay" the messag...

Roku and Now TV network control plugin

I wrote a plugin to control a Roku (also known as "Now TV" in the UK) box over Ethernet or WiFi. It is very simple. Please read the README file, and review the __init__.py file too. Please feel free to add more features. Please post them to this thread. This is my first plugin which I've posted to t...

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

I found a quirk, and also a nice feature when sending the -r argument to cec-client.exe. The quirk is that, even though the physical address of the HTPC is already stored in the EEPROM, when the TV asks the CEC device for its physical address, the CEC device responds with an error. So, as a work-aro...

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter

Kasinator, Thanks for your work on this. I am finally getting around to testing this. So far, results look good. One thing though, the way you are starting the cec-client.exe program, all of the persisted settings in the CEC device are getting erased. I changed your Python script so that it sends th...

Re: Devices for Devs ?

Pako, I do not have very much time to develop a plugin. I would love to have a plugin for the Pulse-Eight HDMI-CEC device. I have not done anything with it for the last few weeks. If you are willing to begin development of the plugin, I will happily send you a Pulse-Eight HDMI-CEC device. However, t...

Re: Insteon SmartLinc

I did a little reading about the Insteon Hub. It sounds like it works using an entirely different principle than the SmartLinc. Based on what I read, the Hub is actually controlled by Insteon's servers on the Internet. It doesn't sound like there is a way to connect to the Hub directly on your LAN.....
