Re: MCE Remote Win 10 update

I figured it out!! You have to check the box that says "use alternate method to emulate keypresses on the action part of the macro configuration. I posted over the SD forums about this also. KG, no hurry, and I know your working on a lot of other stuff I'm excited to try out. I have been really dist...

Re: MCE Remote Win 10 update

I started poking around with Windows 10, and remote navigation in order to explore how eventghost fits in. I noticed while using an Xbox One Controller as a remote control, the direction keys work natively in the WIn 10 HDHR View app. Another benefit to the XBox controller remote is there is no need...

Re: ZWave options for EG

Kevin, is PyOpenZwave something that I have to compile, or can I just install python 2.7 on a machine, and run it from the interpreter?

Re: ZWave options for EG

I'll try it out when I get a chance but I can't look at it until next week at the earliest. Thanks again for helping out.

Re: ZWave options for EG

What about using a plugin for something like openhab? JR Iver also has an automation platform called injen? I don't know if there is an open API for it though.

Re: ZWave options for EG

KG, I read through many of your comments on the open Zwave GitHub repository. I have some of the tools to build this. once built and compiled, would I need any additional prerequisites other than EG and open Zwave on my machines?

ZWave options for EG

I have seen threads around here before about ZWave devices but I'm not sure which applies to me. I have been very very slowly building up a small collection of Zwave devices, and now I have reached 2 devices!! I have a Aeon Labs Aeotec Gen 5 ZStick & Gen 5 Multi-sensor. This should be enough to setu...

USBUIRT on Windows 10

Like MCE Remotes, USBUIRT is long abandoned by its developer. Because using this has been a topic of discussion, I'm sharing this link which talks about updated drivers, and disabling driver signing enforcement in WInodws 10. I'm still on hunt for a simple, contemporary remote control for WIndows 10...

Re: Help wanted inquire within.

They look like they could be opening up the mouse and keyboard apis a little for the XBox at least. https://arstechnica-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/arstechnica.com/gaming/2018/06/xbox-one-mouse-and-keyboard-support-could-be-rolling-out-soon/?amp_js_v=a2&_gsa=1&=1#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&share...

Re: My Home Theater build progress

Thanks for looking!! Yea, I was into car audio for a while up until a few years ago but then responsibilities got the better of it. I have a lot of old hobbies that have become toys in the attic. The one thing that can benefit everyone in some way or another is the theater room though. I still have ...

Re: Help wanted inquire within.

There are a few reasons why a store app might benefit EG and deffinately more than a few reasons why having a store app is a bad idea. I'll start with the bad. The API is limited a developers would have to focus effort on it. All around I hear the argument against store apps being the limited API bu...

Re: Help wanted inquire within.

If EG gets split up into a frontend backend or web client / server configuration then maybe it could get a UWP app listed in the store. It would obviously require a win 32 component to be installed but a store app might bring a chance to modernize parts of EG

Re: MCE Remote Win 10 update

One more thing. As far as a new send keystrokes goes, a lot of things are moving in terms of updating EG so after some EG "platform" updates there are likely to be quite a few new possibilities in terms of plugin development. But a lot of that is still in the works or undecided. I have a lot going o...

Re: MCE Remote Win 10 update

If you install the MCE Vista+ plugin along with the Alternate IR service, and use a Windows media center control profile with your harmony remote, EG should intercept your keystrokes, and windows SHOULD not see them. Installing the MCE Vista+ plugin will remove those two registry keys referenced ear...
